Red pebbled cloth boards, gilt lettering to spine and front cover. All edges marbled. 12ins x 9.5ins, marbled endpapers, 144pp plus 20pp plates. There are 20 churches covered:- St Michaels Haworth, White Chapel Cleckheaton, All Saints Chapel & St Lawrence's church Pudsey, parish church Ilkley, St Peter's Hartshead, St Oswald's Guisley, Old Chapel and church of St Michael Lightcliffe, parish church Bradford, St Michael's East Ardsley, parish church Keighley, St Mary 's Gomersal, St Helen's Sandal Magna, St Peter Wooley, St Peter Morley, St Michael and Our Lady Wragby, St John Hopton, St John Royston, St Peter Felkirk, St Hilda Egton, St Oswald's Lythe. A comprehensive dissertation on the ancient and present state of Pontefract, in Yorkshire. With an account of the civil wars, as to what concern'd that strong and magnificent fortress, thought to have been *impregnable: likewise the manner of its seizure; rendition thereof; and entire destruction.
N.P., N.D. 17cm. [8]pp, text devices, illustrations and views. Bound into a copy of Gent's 'History of Ripon 1783', lacking the two rare woodcuts called for in the 'Journey into some parts of Yorkshire.' Later panelled calf gilt, raised bands, decorated in blind, marbled endpapers. Lacks spine label; later stamped perforations to foot of final leaf - not affecting text or image. Not in ESTC, COPAC, or Boyne. OCLC lists a copy at Wakefield Libraries, giving the author as Thomas Gent; however, in Gent's autobiography, published in 1832, there is no mention of this work, nor is it present in the extensive section devoted to Gent in Robert Davies 'A Memoir of the York Press.'

Prisoners kept in fetters. Lord Lieutenant inspects and recommends "that the gaoler be dismissed; he is an old dirty forlorn, incapable creature, quite unfit for an office of such responsibility. Parliamentary papers of this period are scarce. It was nut until 1836 that provision was made for their sale to the public.
