O'CARROLL-KELLY, ROSS
NAMA Mia!
Penguin, UK, 2011. First Edition, Paperback. Very Good Condition. 9781844882267 416 pages. Available Now. Book Description: It was no country for young men. Or women ...: Unemployment, emigration and do-it-yourself hair colour kits were once again a fact of life. Taxes were on the up, the IMF were on the way and there was a cash for gold outlet in Foxrock Village.: But the signs for recovery were good - for me, at least. I was the chief executive of one of the few businesses turning a profit in this town, a shredding company helping to dispose of the Celtic Tiger's dirty little secrets. And I was getting plenty of love action - as the boy-toy of an attractive sixty-year-old woman who was totally rolling in it. I never imagined myself ending up as a gigolo. But, as the saying goes, where there's a will, there's a way-hey-hey!: With presents galore, sex on demand and a hot meal on the table every night, life was storting to look up again. All I had to do to aovid focking it up was to keep my chinos buttoned. And, well, you can probably guess how that went. : Review: Ross's misadventures and on-the-nose observations never fail to provoke a laugh-out-loud reaction ... bursting at the seams with spot-on parody (Irish Times ): Will leave you with pains in your cheeks from laughing (RTÉ Guide on The Oh My God Delusion ): Side-achingly funny (Sunday Independent ): Ross at his best: razor sharp, magnificently plotted and an utter joy to read (Irish Mail on Sunday on The Oh My God Delusion ): While the writing is as sharp and LOL funny as ever, Ross's complicated relationships ... are movingly explored. The closing pages had this reviewer in tears - and, for once, they weren't of helpless laughter (Hot Press on The Oh My God Delusion ) : About the Author: Keeping up with the Kalashnikovs is the fourteenth novel in Paul Howard's 'Ross O'Carroll-Kelly' series. Ross books - annual No 1 bestsellers - have sold over half a million copies, are annually nominated for the Popular Fiction prize at the Irish Book Awards - where they have won the prize an unprecedented three times - and are also critically acclaimed as satirical masterpieces. Titles include The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightdress, Should have Got off at Sydney Parade, This Champagne Mojito is the Last Thing I Own, Rhino What You Did Last Summer, NAMA Mia!, The Oh My God Delusion (chosen as Ireland's favourite book in Eason's 2011 125th birthday poll), The Shelbourne Ultimatum and Downturn Abbey. Size: 15.3 x 2.3 x 23.4 cm. 416 pages. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Fiction; ISBN: 1844882268. ISBN/EAN: 9781844882267. Inventory No: B191-1066.

COLONEL SIR EDWARD C. ROSS, C.S.I., M.R.A.S.
The Story of Yusuf Shah Sarraj (The Saddler), and of How the Inhabitants of Kazwin Outwitted the Heavenly Bodies. A Satire.
Royal Asiatic Society. July, 1895. London, 1895. First Edition, Paperback. Very Good Condition. Octavo (14.5 x 22 cms approx). 33 Pages. Original printed wrappers as issued. Scarce. The condition will reflect the fragile and ephemeral format of the production; very good overall. This is a Publisher's Offprint, not an extract or a reprint. An offprint is produced by the publisher's of journals in very small quantities, with the usual intention of allowing the author to present them to friends or colleagues and for review. The printing is done simultaneously with the main journal, and then they are bound up in specially printed wrappers with the author's name and title printed. They are considered quite collectable and desirable due to their intimate connection to the author of the work, rather than the more mass produced nature of the full journal. [?COOKE (WILLIAM)]:
Theatrical Biography: Or, Memoirs of the Principal Performers of the Three Theatres Royal. Drury-Lane. Mr. Garrick...[inter alia]. Covent-Garden. Mr. Ross...[inter alia]. Hay-Market. Mr. Foote...[inter alia]. Together with Critical and impartial Remarks on their respective professional Merits.
London: Printed for S. Bladon..., 1772. 2 volumes in 1. Small 8vo, 147 x 89 mms., pp. [ii], vii [viii blank], 156; [ii], 147 [148 blank, 149 - 153 index], contemporary calf, later reback in roan, morocco, new end-papers; corners a bit worn, but a good copy. A short review in The Monthly Review for 1772 commented, "On the whole, these Theatrical Lives, though not of the most exemplary or moral kind, are written in a sprightly, agreeable strain; and the Author seems to have been well furnished with anecdotes proper for such an undertaking: but of the authenticity of these materials, we are not altogether competent judges." Such a sentiment has seldom stopped many reviewers.
