MITCHELL, VIC
Corris and Vale of Rheidol From Machynlleth and Aberystwyth (Narrow Gauge Branch Lines)
Middleton Press, 1st 2009. Hardback. Fine condition with no wrapper. Glazed pictorial boards. B/w photos. The Corris started as a tramroad, mostly adjacent to the highway and mainly for the conveyance of slate. It evolved into an unusual passenger railway with great charm and part of it is being lovingly resorted. The Vale of Rheidol route to Devil's Bridge has equally attractive environs and survived several changes to continue to convey countless admirers. All eras of these fascinating byways are illustrated in the leisurely journey on both historic lines. This copy would make a wonderful gift. [S] ISBN: 9781906008659

MORRIS, FRANCIS ORPEN
Powis Castle, near Welshpool, Montgomeryshire. The House of the Earls of Powis. Antique Colour Print.
William MacKenzie, London [c.1860]. 1860. First Edition, Print, Illustrated by: Alexander Francis Lydon. Very Good Condition. An original 1860 colour print measuring 8 x 10.5 inches (image 5 x 7.5 inches), from Morris' work A Series of Picturesque Views of Seats of the Noblemen & Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland, together with the accompanying two page text. Just a hint of foxing in surround, not affecting print. Ideal for framing. Printed using the coloured woodblock process known as Baxter Printing, by Benjamin Fawcett of Driffield, these bright and attractively coloured prints are often mistaken for chromolithographs. It has been noted that the printing is so subtle that it gives the appearance of a watercolour (Friedman, 1978). Illustrator: Alexander Francis Lydon. Quantity Available: 1.
