ont The Gresham Publishing Co : London. 1900. Hardcover. Book, A handsome eleven volume set of works, in a decorative cloth binding designed by prolific artist Talwin Morris. A handsomely bound set 11 volume set, featuring numerous popular and cultural significant literary works. Uncommon to find such as large collection of this particular binding. Those being: The Heart of Midlothian; Harry Lorrequer; Westward Ho!; John Halifax, Gentlemen; Scenes of Clerical Life; Lavengro; Coningsby; The Caxtons; The Scarlet Letter; After Dark; and Ormond. Uniformly bound in a decorative cloth binding, designed by Talwin Morris. This particular design is influenced from the art nouveau movement, a style which Morris became recognisable for. A prolific artist, alongside he book designs, Morris is known for his furniture and metal design. Undated, dated using Copac. Each work includes a introduction and several illustrations. Collated, incomplete. Lacking two plates across the 11 volumes. Collation unavailable for 'The Scarlet Letter'. Condition: In a attractive decorative cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, though rubbed in places. Each volume has bumping to the head and tail of the spines, resulting in small tears to the cloth. Splits the joints of several volumes. Light sunning to the spines, heaviest to 'The Scarlet Letter'. Light spotting of the fore edge of each volume. The odd mark to the board, with evidence of sticker removal to the front board of 'Ormond'. Endpaper of each volume are generally clean, with some light offsetting to the odd volume. Library plate to the front pastedown of 'Ormond' with evidence of library plate removal to the front endpaper. The front endpaper of 'The Scarlet Letter' is lacking. Internally generally firmly bound, though binding is strained in places to several volumes. Pages are lightly spotted throughout. One plate is lacking from 'Lavengro'. Frontispiece if lacking from 'Ormond' missing frontispiece. No collation available for the plate in 'The Scarlet Letter'. Overall Condition: Good. Very Good.
