Bickham, George, London. 1st edition. 1748. Disbound sheets. 7 leaves, engraved one side. Pages 84-90. Approx. size, 31.5x18.5 cms, (12.5"x 7.25"). Description of the county. The first page is headed by an engraving, with the Arms of the City of London, supported by classical figures. Page 87 is headed by an engraving of the sea battle when the Dutch attacked the Enlish fleet in the Thames. Page 89 is headed by an engraving depicting scenes in an art school, with the Arms of the City of Westminster. There is a decorative tail piece on the final page. Clean, and browned very slightly at extreme edges of margins. Pages can easily be trimmed. Of interest to the historian, calligrapher or collector, and may be framed for display, since only printed on one side of the leaf. VG. (NB, this is NOT the "Birds Eye" map). Condition: In a decorative cloth binding. Externally, bumped, with some shelfwear. There is dampstaining to the rear board. The spine is faded and cocked. The front joint is slightly strained. Internally, generally firmly bound, although strained in places. Generally bright, with occasional spots and marks, including handling marks. There is some offsetting to p14-15 andsome dusting to the extreme outer margins. Ink signature of A. W. Pearse to half-title. Overall: GOOD. Good.
