Seventeenth-century genealogies/family trees of London and surrounding county families (out as far as Staines) from Awsiter to Wicks and including Bonfoy, Brigginshaw, Comyn, Mayo, Merrick, Otger, Pagitt, Swynerton, Treswallen, Wilding, etc. Munby (III, p.12) corrects the date of publication to 1821. This is an Original 1787 Act or Parliament disbound from a Volume of Acts. 4 Pages + Titlepage. Held by remains of original leather spine and strings. Shows evidence of its age with some browning and foxing but overall in good condition. This refers to a a house in the possession of 'Luttrell Wynne Doctor of Laws' - 'said house to be deemed part of Saint George's Parish' - annual compensation of 'six Pounds thirteen Shillings and Four Pence' to be paid to St Luke's Parish. An Act for enlarging the Powers of Act Act made in the Twentieth Year of His Late Majesty King George the Second for building a Bridge cross the River Thames from the Parish of Walton upon Thames, in the County of Surrey, to Shepperton, in the County of Middlesex.This act relates to the first bridge (built by Samuel Dicker) and gives Michael Dicker powers to increase tolls to effect repairs (or rebuild) the bridge. Full details of the tolls are given e.g. For every Coach, Chariot, Landau, Berlin, Chaise..drawn by six horses or other cattle the sum of two shillings and sixpence.'' - gives details of the 'new' bridge (208 feet to be left for the passage of the water)..powers to erect a temporary bridge etc This is the original act printed in 1780 - 6 pages in total + Titlepage. An Act to enable the inhabitants of the Parish of Saint Paul Covent Garden, in the County of Middlesex, to purchase or hire a Convenient Piece of Ground for the Purpose or erecting a Workhouse thereon for the Reception and Employment of the Poor of the said Parish; and for providing an additional Burial Ground for the Use of the said Parish 14 Pages (plus titlepage) - 31 x 20 cms Dis-bound from a volume of Acts and held together by the remains on the old binding and may show traces of the old leather and stitching. Paper a little browned The Cleveland Street Workhouse was built on an H plan on the eastern side of Cleveland Street between 1775-8, by the parish of St Paul Covent Garden, on land leased from the Bedford Estate. The construction of the building resulted from the intercession of the Duke of Bedford’s steward Robert Palmer, the same man who together with Duchess Gertrude planned and realized the construction of Bedford Square and Gower Street. The original Act of Parliament was obtained in May 1775. The building was initially designed to accommodate 200 paupers, but the plan was modified prior to construction to accommodate a greater number.. Good .
