YOUNG, ARTHUR
Review of Present State of Husbandry in Scotland. By Robert Wight, of Ormstown, East Lothian. A rare original article from the Annals of Agriculture, 1790.
Arthur Young, Bury St. Edmund's, 1790. Disbound. Very Good Condition. 13 pages. Note; this is an original article separated from an original volume of 'Annals of Agriculture, and other Useful Arts', not a reprint or an offprint. Young's Agriculture journal is an interesting resource for agricultural experiments, farming techniques, and legislative matters, eg. Corn Laws, Wool Laws, etc. all around the height of the Agricultural Revolution of the late 18th century. Young was regularly in correspondence with farmers throughout the country, and routinely took himself on visits and trips which helped inform his views with current ideas, challenges, and solutions. Young was appointed to the Board of Agriculture in 1793 as the Secretary, and worked on the preparation and publication of county agricultural surveys, and there is similar material contained in this journal. Young's Agriculture sold in fairly low numbers, typically around the 500 to 1000 copies and is comparatively uncommon as a consequence. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Annals of Agriculture; Printed before 1800; Inventory No: 263489.
