Abraham Bennet (bap. 1749, d. 1799), Church of England clergyman and natural philosopher. "In 1789 Bennet was elected a fellow of the [Royal] society. With support from Darwin, Wedgwood, and Priestley [all of whom appear in the list of subscribers] he published at Derby new accounts of what became known as Bennet's electrometer and doubler in New Experiments on Electricity (1789).
