Welcome to LocalStudies, the search site for books, prints and documents on the local history of the United Kingdom and the dependencies Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
To help you find the books of your interest we have organized the search strategies along two lines:
1. for books concerned with local history in general, or on a national level: use the menu as shown on this page.
2. for anything on local interest in counties, cities, towns, villages: click on a county on the green map. You will then get a list of names and a new menu. The list serves as a list of keywords; it is created on the fly, and based on names that are present in our database. So if a name does not appear in the list there is just nothing to be found at the moment. The system is updated daily.
We have chosen for the historical counties as our guide. We just added the Isle of Man, the Channel Island. The Isle of Wight can also be searched separately. A list of counties is also present at the foot of each page.
The system searches books and documents offered by booksellers in the UK, and present in the books database of Antiqbook.com. We are still working on some expansions of this search system. Your suggestions or questions are welcome at info@localstudies.co.uk
